International DJ Expo 2010

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 @ 04:10 PM Author: Paul Evans

Every year, Silver Sound DJs always make’s it a point to make an appearance at the International DJ Expo held in Atlantic City, NJ.  More than half of the company was in attendance.  The first day started with some great seminars, such as the topic of Beat-Mixing.  The following day, more DJs arrived and the Expo was open to all to see new models of lights, speakers, mixers and ground breaking innovations like the new Serato Dicer Device.

We were lucky to catch an inspiring VJ performance from Ronnie G, DJ Scribble, and a great seminar from Philadelphia native DJ Jazzy Jeff.  After attending several seminars that day about how to better cater to our future clients, the staff was treated to a grand dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse by company president Paul Evans.  Right after dinner, we headed over to The House of Blues to see performances by Alexis Jordan, Chris Willis, Jump Smokers, Judy Torres, Kelly Rowland, Mike Posner and Salt N Peppa.

The following day we attended more seminars such as the Intelligent Lighting Seminar featuring the latest technologies in controlling moving gobo heads with software.  In the end, every DJ took home something from this Seminar whether it was an experience, wealth of knowledge, or poker chips from the Taj Mahal.

Bridal Show at Crowne Royal Valley Forge

Wednesday, October 20, 2010 @ 07:10 PM Author: Paul Evans

Silver Sound DJs participated this year in the annual bridal show hosted by Bridal Event at  Crowne Plaza Vally Forge on September 12, 2010.  Paul Evans was the man in charge accompanied by Todd Frederick and Fred Alvisi, assisting brides in finding the right DJ for their upcoming weddings.  It was easy to find the Silver Sound booth out of the crowd with our signature monogram shining over our water effect light onto the ceiling.  There was plenty of pastries, champagne, and live music going around.  But the main showcase was the fashion show featuring some of the most current and elegant styles for brides this season.  We met lots of great brides who are signing up with Silver Sound DJs for their special date and we look forward to meeting more next year!

Silver Sound Company Meeting 2010

Thursday, October 7, 2010 @ 08:10 PM Author: Paul Evans

On August 2nd, 2010 Silver Sound held it’s annual DJ Meeting at The Columbia Station in Phoenixville, PA.  The room tone was set with four wall uplighting using PAR 64 LED Cans.  Sound was handled by QSC self-powered speakers all supported on tripods dressed in tripod skirts.  Video projection featured crisp slideshows and video onto a 9×12 video screen supported on a high rise truss.  Additional lights featured in our meeting were The Chauvet Eclipse, American DJ H2O LED Light, Chauvet VUE6, and American DJ Mega Bar 50s.  All of these elements were showcased not only to display new innovations in the DJ market but to exhibit the potential of what an amazing setup can look like at your events.  DJs and associates came through the doors and started the evening with cocktail hour meeting old friends and new.  Not long after, all were treated to delicious dinners courtesy of the President of Silver Sound Mr. Paul Evans.  Once dinner ended, everyone entered the main room to take in the elaborate production setup for the meeting.  Speakers Steve Croce and Paul Evans put focus on new gear, such as the Numark Mix Deck, that can help DJ’s enhance their performance.  Other helpful hints were also offered, as well as praise for DJ achievements such as DJ Gaetano Bosco who just completed his one thousandth gig for Silver Sound.  The night concluded with a video montage featuring some of the early days of the company in the late 70s into the early 90′s.  It was most entertaining, but not for all to see.

Wedding September 25, 2010

Thursday, October 7, 2010 @ 05:10 PM Author: Paul Evans

Cliff contacted Silver Sound, from the Moshulu recommended list, ten days before their wedding.  DJ Paul Evans happened to be available and, it turned out, Paul knew Titi from her Salsa dancing at Brasils Nightclub in Old City, Philadelphia.  Paul had a few days to prepare an eclectic mixture of music from Nigeria, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Columbia.  Paul came with an assistant and three separate sound setups, with Ceremony on the upper Deck, Cocktails on the Mid Deck and the Reception in the Orchid room.  The weather for the Ceremony was perfect with blue skies and a nice breeze.  A lapel wireless mic was provided for the Officiant who remarked later, how clear her words were.  Cliff chose some special processional music and Titi walked down the aisle to an exact moment at the peak of a dramatic opera piece by Lucianno Pavarotti.  Titi and Cliff prepared special sentimental words for each other with the Delaware and Ben Franklin bridge as a backdrop.  During cocktails the Salsa tracks had some guests trying out their dance moves, other styles played were Calypso, Bossanova, Cha Cha and other flavorful genres.  During the reception our couple danced up a storm, the Nigerian and other fast moving African tracks along with Merengue and Salsa carried the day.  Cliff said “Ten Days or Ten weeks to get ready, you know what you’re doing.  I’m not sure what we would have done without you.”  Special thanks came via Email and Facebook from Titi where Paul posted over 100 pictures taken by his assistant.  Our couple is back in the Boston area, starting their lives together as husband and wife, where Dr. Titi Alabi has a family practice in Salem, MA.

Eliza’s Sweet 16

Monday, October 4, 2010 @ 02:10 PM Author: Paul Evans

Eliza turned sixteen this month and it’s hard to imagine that her or any of her guests will ever forget the party thrown to celebrate it.  There were few, if any, moments that DJ Paul Evans did not have everyone on the dancefloor singing and dancing together throughout the evening.  Paul worked double hard as he doubled as a photographer for this event as well.  This tiki themed party was beautifully assembled by Penncora Productions at the Radnor Hunt Club where we had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside  Jean and her husband.  Mother of the birthday girl, Terry Moran, had nothing but glowing reviews about the island themed celebration.
